This 1950's postcard was a souvenir from Sammy's Bowery Follies, a modern New York tourist stop. Sammy's Follies began in the late 1930's featuring down and out actors in various states of artistic compromise including some of the earliest drag guises to hit the stage. These early queens made up for their lack of physical attractiveness with their extreme flamboyance.
